    Step 1

    Preheat oven to 180°C and line a loaf tin.

    Step 2

    Mix together the eggs, margarine, flour, golden syrup, baking powder and ginger until smooth.

    Step 3

    Stir the apple and pear chunks into the batter and pour into the loaf tin.

    Step 4

    Option to decorate the top with finely sliced apple, flaked almonds and a sprinkle of golden caster sugar.

    Step 5

    Place in the oven for 35-45 minutes or until a skewer inserted near the centre of the cake comes out clean.

    Step 6

    Leave to cool in the tin for 5 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool fully.
