Penne pasta in cheesy marinara sauce

Everyone knows wine and cheese go hand in hand. After that, the next logical step is to add pasta ❤️

This is the definition of comfort food. It just hugs the soul. It also makes for a great date night meal 😉

I served with cheesy garlic bread coz carbs on carbs is the meaning of life 😂

Ingredients

    Directions

    Step 1

    Peel and half onion. Smash whole garlic cloves.

    Step 2

    Dice bacon and fry in 2tbsp olive oil until crisp. Remove from pan and set aside.

    Step 3

    In remaining oil, add tomato puree and cook for approx 2mins, stirring continuously.

    Step 4

    Add passata, onion, garlic and salt to pan and bring to the boil.

    Step 5

    Reduce heat and simmer for 20mins, stirring occasionally.

    Step 6

    Meanwhile, cook pasta as per packet instructions.

    Step 7

    After 20mins, discard onion and garlic and add sugar and basil.

    Step 8

    Add grated red wine cheese and stir until cheese is melted and combined with marinara sauce. Add a little pasta water if too thick.

    Step 9

    Return bacon to sauce.

    Step 10

    Drain cooked pasta and mix with sauce before serving
