German sausage sauce with rice

    Step 1

    Cut the sausage lengthways and then slice into half moon slices.

    Step 2

    Heat the oil in a deep pan and fry the sliced sausage for 3 mins, stirring occasionally.

    Step 3

    Sprinkle in the flour and stir well.

    Step 4

    Dissolve the stock cube in the boiling water and slowly pour into the pan, stirring all the time to dissolve any lumps.

    Step 5

    Add potatoes, gherkins and bay leaf, cover and cook for 15-20 mins, stirring occasionally, adding more water if necessary.

    Step 6

    Stir in the fresh cream and the chopped eggs and cook for further 5 mins. Serve with rice.
