Chocolate cake




    Step 1

    Preheat the oven to 200°C/fan 180°C and grease and line a base of a round cake tin with baking paper.

    Step 2

    Beat the margarine and sugar in a large bowl, add eggs, beating well after each addition.

    Step 3

    Add flour with the baking powder, cocoa, milk and beat until smooth.

    Step 4

    Transfer to the prepared tin and bake for approx 25 mins or until a skewer inserted in the middle of the cake comes out clean.

    Step 5

    Leave to cool and remove from the tin.

    Step 6

    Break the milk chocolate into a small bowl, add cream and put the bowl over a pan with simmering water, stirring until melted.

    Step 7

    Spread over the top of the cake, leave to set and sprinkle with chocolate shavings.
